Front of the card

The space containing this illustration is square in shape, and the largest object is a large tree covering almost the entire upper-right half of the square. From about the 5 o’clock position, a light brown trunk grows out from the undulating, grey-coloured ground at the bottom into a perfectly round light green foliage. You can see many leaves in the foliage, and light yellow–coloured pears hanging from tree branches. A large partridge, almost half as high as the foliage, perches on one of the branches, inside the tree.

Under the tree you see an unadorned grey-coloured stone manger, and in the manger is a baby. Behind all this is a purplish night sky, with six stars at the top-left corner in a pentagonal formation.

The words “Merry Christmas” is written vertically, from top to bottom, on the left edge of the space in cursive letterforms. They look naturally flowing, but if you tilt your head to look at the words right side up, you find that the words seem to be leaning backwards.
